He was born on July 23, 1943 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Ralph and Ruth Howsare. On July 17, 1976 in Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, Claysburg, he was united in marriage to Ruby K. Howsare. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Howsare, she preceded him in death on October 1, 1974.

Sandra was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of the United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She was an active member in Masonic temple as the spouse of the Potentate's aide to Olaf Thorsen. She had many dear friends in Grand Forks and participated in many social clubs and book clubs.
She married her high school sweetheart, James David Thorsen in 1958 and they became the proud parents of her three sons, James Jr., Randall Scott and Gregory Paul. After Jim's passing she moved to Macon, GA and to Bossier City, LA where she married Benny Akers. Janet found an interest in interior designing and sewing. Janet designed the home for her and her husband Richard where they resided together over the past 28 years. RV travel shows were some of her favorites as she neared her end while fighting MS that took hold of her many years ago. She met and fell in love with Richard Akers and spent the remainder of her life with him.
It was his wish to be able to pass at home surrounded by his family and thankfully we were able to honor that wish.
